Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech – itinerary:

Begin your day excursion to the Ourika Valley from Marrakech by departing from your accommodation. We will head towards the picturesque and rejuvenating Ourika Valley, located approximately 60 kilometres away at an elevation of around 1,000 meters, nestled at the base of the Atlas Mountains.

As we journey into the impressively high Atlas Mountains, which are often graced by a layer of snow, we’ll pass by the Berber village of Tahnaout and make a stop at the Moulay Brahim mausoleum. Shortly thereafter, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a Berber family, where you can share a glass of tea and learn about traditional bread ovens.

Continuing our route, we’ll traverse the National Toubkal Park and visit Asni, a well-known Berber village celebrated for its weekly souk and women’s cooperatives engaged in the production of Argan oil. We’ll then proceed to the Ourika Valley, where you’ll encounter garden fields, fruit trees, Berber villages, charming riverside cafes and colourful restaurants. You’ll have the option to indulge in a delightful tagine for lunch, either at one of the riverside restaurants or at a table placed in the river, allowing you to dine with your feet in the refreshing water.

Following your meal, you have the opportunity to hire a local guide to accompany you on a hike throughout the valley and into the mountains. This provides a unique insight into mountain life, local Berber culture, and the opportunity to relish in the splendid vistas of the lush, fertile valleys.
